The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is an annual international campaign that kicks off on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and runs until 10 December, Human Rights Day.

As part of the one year anniversary of the launch of the Global Strategy on the Elimination of Cervical Cancer, 
The First Ladies Against Cancer (FLAC) continue with activities lined up this period with the aim of eliminating Cervical Cancer, ensuring government dedicates funding to the screening and treatment of cancer in Nigeria.

Her Excellency Dr. Linda Ayade through her NGO Mediatrix Development Foundation, organized a Town Hall Meeting with stakeholders from the State Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, Primary Health Care Development Agency, International Federation of Female Lawyers (FIDA), Medical Women, Traditional rulers, Principal of Holy Child Secondary School, Pharmaceutical companies to sensitize young girls in Holy Child Secondary School on the damage Cervical Cancer is capable of doing, and why it should be treated with caution, she also admonished the girls to abstain from sexual practices at a tender age as it can lead to HPV, and how important it is for young girls to get vaccinated as it is one of the top viruses killing women and girls in Nigeria.

1. To sustain community focused efforts in improving awareness of HPV and cervical cancer in Cross River State.
2. To contribute to the improvement of access to cervical cancer prevention services in the state including vaccination and referrals.
3. To expand coverage and support existing interventions to reach more women and girls.
4. To provide support for legal issues in women’s health including gender-based violence.
5. To support community engagement activities and encourage women participation in cervical cancer prevention intervention.
6. Increasing cancer awareness activities in the Mediatrix school-based clubs.
7. To become active advocates against cervical cancer and HPV.
