Welcome to MDF. We're on a mission to To improve the lives of the people by reducing the burden of communicable and non-communicable diseases and social inequalities affecting orphans, vulnerable children, women and the elderly in Cross River State. The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is an annual international campaign that kicks off on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and runs until 10 December, Human Rights Day.

In a groundbreaking collaboration, the Mediatrix Development Foundation partnered with the Pink Africa Foundation to mark a significant milestone in the fight against cancer. The seventh edition of the annual Go Pink Day (GPD24), themed “Better Than One,” showcased the transformative power of unity and community-driven efforts in combating cancer and improving public health across Africa.
The awareness walk kicked off at Millennium Park, Calabar, at exactly 7:30 a.m. Participants, adorned in vibrant pink, gathered with a shared purpose: to raise awareness and foster early detection of cancer. This year’s GPD24 represented a monumental shift, expanding from a single-city initiative to a multi-city outreach spanning six African countries and engaging the diaspora.
Over 1,000 African women benefited from free screenings for breast cancer, cervical cancer, Hepatitis, and HIV, receiving critical services that could potentially save lives and alleviate the financial burden of diagnostic care. Among those screened, 71 women and girls were identified with concerning findings, including breast lumps, nipple discharge, and cervical lesions. These discoveries underscored the life-saving importance of early detection and timely medical intervention.
In addition to the on-ground activities, the campaign leveraged the power of digital platforms to amplify its message, reaching over 50,000 individuals online. Through heartfelt survivor stories, educational posts, and interactive discussions, the digital campaign extended the initiative’s reach and deepened its impact, connecting communities and inspiring action across borders.
“Better Than One” was not just a theme; it embodied the spirit of collaboration that fueled this year’s success. Volunteers, healthcare professionals, and cancer survivors worked hand in hand to deliver meaningful interventions, ensuring that no community was left behind. From the bustling streets of Calabar to remote villages across Africa, the initiative resonated deeply, sparking hope and resilience in the face of a daunting challenge.
As the day drew to a close, survivors and participants shared emotional testimonies that highlighted the transformative power of awareness and collective action. The Mediatrix Development Foundation and Pink Africa Foundation’s joint effort set a new standard for health advocacy, proving that partnerships and unity can amplify impact and save lives.
Together, these organizations reaffirmed their commitment to a brighter, healthier future for Africa. The fight against cancer is far from over, but with initiatives like GPD24, it is clear that we are stronger, more effective, and truly “Better Than One.”
