Welcome to MDF. We're on a mission to To improve the lives of the people by reducing the burden of communicable and non-communicable diseases and social inequalities affecting orphans, vulnerable children, women and the elderly in Cross River State. The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is an annual international campaign that kicks off on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and runs until 10 December, Human Rights Day.

As part of its commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of its host communities through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, Huaxin Building Materials Nigeria (HBM Nigeria), in partnership with the Mediatrix Development Foundation (MDF), successfully carried out a comprehensive free medical outreach across nine host communities in Cross River State.

The medical outreach was officially flagged off on 12th May 2026 at Akwa Ikot Effanga Community, marking the commencement of a life-changing healthcare intervention for residents across the host communities. The flag-off ceremony was attended by the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Henry Egbe Ayuk; the Director General, Cross River State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Vivian Otu; and the Plant Manager, HBM Nigeria, alongside community leaders, healthcare professionals, and other key stakeholders who reaffirmed their commitment to improving access to quality healthcare.

The outreach was implemented in the following HBM Nigeria CSR host communities:

    Akwa Ikot Effanga
    Ekong Anaku
    Essien Town
    Kasuk
    Diamond
    Obutong

The initiative was designed to provide residents with access to quality healthcare services, promote early detection of common health conditions, and improve overall community health outcomes.

Throughout the outreach, hundreds of community members benefited from a wide range of free healthcare services delivered by qualified medical professionals. The services provided included:

  • Blood Sugar Testing
  • Malaria Testing
  • Eye Check and Vision Screening
  • HIV Testing and Counseling
  • Medical Consultation with Doctors
  • Free Drug Dispensation
  •  

Beneficiaries received professional medical attention, essential medications, and health education tailored to their individual health needs. Individuals diagnosed with eye-related conditions were also assessed and provided with prescription eyeglasses where appropriate, while those requiring advanced treatment were referred for further specialist care.

The outreach underscores HBM Nigeria's unwavering commitment to promoting healthier communities through sustainable Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives. Through its partnership with the Mediatrix Development Foundation, HBM Nigeria continues to invest in impactful healthcare interventions that improve lives, strengthen community wellbeing, and foster sustainable development across its host communities.

The successful completion of the medical outreach is a testament to the power of collaboration between the private sector, government, and development organizations in expanding access to quality healthcare and creating lasting positive impact for communities across Cross River State.
