Welcome to MDF. We're on a mission to To improve the lives of the people by reducing the burden of communicable and non-communicable diseases and social inequalities affecting orphans, vulnerable children, women and the elderly in Cross River State. The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is an annual international campaign that kicks off on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and runs until 10 December, Human Rights Day.

Within the five days under review (March 21st – March 25th, 2022) Mediatrix Development Foundation in close partnership with Faith-Care Outreach International carried out a free medical outreach in the Central and Southern part of Cross River State, which covers – Abi Local Government Area (Itigidi), and Odukpani (Ukem) Local Government Area (LGA).

The free general medical outreach is the 5th of its kind by Her Excellency, the wife of the Governor of Cross River State - Dr. Mrs. Linda Ayade through her Non-Governmental Organization, Mediatrix Development Foundation after the huge success achieved in the previous outreach for Central Cross River in Ikom and Ugep LGA in 2016. In 2018, a prototype version with more coordination took place at the General Hospital Obudu in Obudu Local Government Area, General Hospital Ogoja and Obudu and IDH Calabar for the Southern with primary target of children under five, pregnant women and the elderly and secondary target of other population group. 

The outreach which speaks to MDF’s Strategic Plan (Carry out Free general outreach in the 3 Senatorial District of Cross River State) and Goal 1 and 3 of the Sustainable Development Goal – No Poverty and Good Health and Well-Being respectively is of essence to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages by reaching out to the Health challenges of the Northern Cross River in line with our thematic area of intervention taking into cognizance the fact that most vulnerable and deprived (poor) will not afford to carter for their health needs. 

It is worthy of note that, on this background MDF decided to embark on this free general medical outreach to the Northern Senatorial District of Cross River State with the following objectives of the outreach:

  • To reach 1,000 most vulnerable persons with free medical health services (Eye Care, Dental Care, Surgeries and other form of medication) in the southern and central senatorial district of cross River State by the 21st – 25th of March 2022;
  • To reach 1,000 most vulnerable persons with primary target of women, Children under five and the elderly with free health service in the southern and central senatorial district of cross River State by 21st – 25th of March 2022;
  • To create ownership, structure and increase in uptake of health services in General Hospital Ukem in Odukpani LGA and Eja Memorial General Hospital Itigidi Abi LGA.
SUCCESSES AND ACHIEVEMENTS:

The successes and achievements recorded during this outreach cannot be overemphasized, in all; a total number of 1,088 persons were reached with free medical services – 1,088 were registered and issued with the patients consultation form and went through vital signs, Consulting, Counseling 732 persons were reached with 26 rededicated live, 15 miraculous healing, distribution of 3 Faith-Care Branded Bible,  total number of 51 persons, 31 males and 20 females were reached with Dental Care, a total of 244 persons of 107 males and 137 females were reached with Eye care services, 111 persons of 72 males and 39 females were reached with various Laboratory test services and 97 persons of 70 males 27 females were reached  minor and major Surgeries while all 1,088  persons were provided with medication.
